I grew up surrounded by art, as my mother was an accomplished oil painter and pastelist. After a successful career in local law enforcement, I began painting with a passion and was soon awarded a life changing opportunity to study with famed pastelist Daniel Greene in his New York art studio.
For the last several years, I have used pastels almost exclusively, usually utilizing a watercolor underpainting, and enjoy exploring the tension between opposites; man-made structures with nature, light with shadows, warm with cool, and colors with their complements. The highest art form for me is interpreting nature boldly en plein air.
My work has appeared in numerous juried art shows, shows in local galleries, and is a part of many private art collections. Please visit my web site at http://www.spearsonartist.com.
